To view security settings on Netscape, click the security button on the browser or look at the padlock on the Navigation Toolbar. If the padlock is closed, then you have a secure connection. You may also click on the padlock to see the security settings.

To view security settings on Internet Explorer, click File>Properties. Also when you enter a secure website, Internet Explorer will display a lock icon in a locked position on the status bar at the bottom right of your screen. Placing the mouse over the lock will show the level of encryption.

With the Opera browser from Norway you can tell if the connection is secure by looking at the padlock icon to the left of the URL/address field. If it is open, there is no encryption. If it is locked, an encrypted connection has been established, and the green lights show how strong the encryption is. Three green lights mean maximum encription.
