This photograph of the Aeolos Brass Quintet was taken in my home studio in Toronto.

The photograph was taken in the days before Photoshop software or computer manipulation of images in general. The background was pure white and my airbrush would have been appropriate to darken the background, but looking at the master print, it was obvious that I had just used a big fat black felt marker to blacken the background. I think this saved the time required to carefully mask off the musicians from the background. But the quick and dirty solution worked quite well.
